Why Women Car Insurance Rates Tend To Be Lower
No one can argue over the fact that women car insurance policies usually have lower rates when compared to that of men. This is true not only in this country but also in most parts of the globe. Because of this observation, many, especially men, are asking whether or not this is some kind of a joke or simply a global practice that is seemingly not fair. Researchers have gone through greater lengths in order to find out what makes women so special that they get such a favorable deal on female car insurance. Most of the studies conducted have yielded the following results.
Research shows that most vehicular accidents involve men.
The statistics can not be denied, there are more reported cases of road mishaps involving men than women. Of course, this observation does not mean that women are better drivers than men. This is not a valid reason for companies to kick out their male drivers and replace them with females in order to save on insurance fees and be secure in their operations. This is also not a valid cause for men to panic or fear that women are going to take their place.
There are actually some factors that led to this finding. One factor is that women travel less than men. Another one is that men travel longer distances than women. Still another factor to consider is that driving positions in many companies and organizations usually go to male drivers than the females. In other words, male drivers outnumber female drivers so the statistics show high occurrences of vehicular accidents involving men and fewer of women. These and others may probably be the reasons men are at a greater risk to insurance companies, so they charge higher insurance rates.
Women are not better drivers than men but…
Women are not better drivers than men, but they definitely tend to be more cautious than men in a lot of ways. This matter is not a secret. Everyone knows that female drivers have a propensity to drive slower and may show hesitations about overtaking other cars. This observation however could not be generalized because there are still women who may not care about safety driving. But women, especially mothers who travel with their kids exercise utmost care in driving for fear they might endanger their lives. Another thing is that most women also refrain from traveling by themselves especially on a long distance due to fear they might encounter mechanical trouble along the way that is beyond their capacity to handle, also, with longer distance and longer hours. The more women cautiously drive, the lesser the tendency of meeting accidents, and eventually the slighter instances of women car insurance claims.
